Potato Croquettes – Recipe

So I made these potato croquettes today. They are pretty easy to make. So if you’re a single guy who lives alone or a dudette who is starving due to lack of culinary skills, this is the place for you!

I am no expert myself. I learn things by trial and error. And I love to share the successful results (I might share some horrid outcomes too lol).

Prep time: 30 mins approx.


a) Potatoes 

You wil be needing 6 potatoes. Peel these potatoes, cut them into half. Get half pot filled with water and boil them for like 20 minutes.
Take out the boiled potatoes and mash them properly. Add a little butter for extra taste (not suggested for healthy eaters/weight watchers).

b) Chicken

You would need one piece of boneless chicken. Exactly the size of the steak you eat. Just put it on boil separately. Once it’s boiled, take it out and shred the chicken. 


c) Spices

1/2 teaspoon Salt
1-2 teaspoon Crushed red chilli peppers 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon Cumingseed powder -Roasted a bit. (If not avaliable easily, you can exclude it)


c) Mixing together

Now add all the spices mentioned above and chicken with mashed potatoes. 

Make different shapes. Cutlets (round shape) to Croquettes (cylinder or oval shape).


d) Almost ready to eat

Take an egg or two. Beat the eggs in a bowl. Now dip the potato croquettes (or cutlers – whatever you name it). 

Now you can either directly put this in a non-stick heated frying pan. (Don’t forget to put 1-2 tablespoon oil and heat it first before frying the croquettes).

Or for best results (visually and taste wise), drip the egged croquettes into bread crumbs first and then fry these until golden brown as seen in the picture below.

Best served hot with a mayo garlic dip!

They tasted delicious. You can add more spices if you want. I am not fond of spices so I like the less spicy version.




If you don’t add eggs and breadcrumbs, you can directly use the mixture to make a quick sandwich too. Just add some mayonnaise or any other sauce in the final mixture (no breadcrumbs or eggs involved), mix it up. And put in either croissants or plain bread. 


And if you want to gain more calories, then dip this sandwich in the beaten eggs bowl and fry ’em up! (You can name these Potato Pakoras – just to be fancy lol)
